I have been reading up on safe and healthy foods and snacks for rats. Any good advice? Recipes?
It would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time!!!

Dried fruits are good. Or if you can find "milk drops" or "choc drops", they bloody love those! They all have different likes and dislikes though, so it's really a case of playing around until you find something they respond well to. Avoid too many treats though, especially things high in sugar like chocolate or raisins as that can react with their stomachs or make them misbehave I have found over the years. As for mainstay foods I have had best success with rat nuggets. With typical rat feed there's always a lot of waste as they pick out the bits they like and reject the rest. That means they aren't getting all their vitamins and minerals they need. Rat nuggets are basically the same feed compressed into nuggets so they eat it all regardless, dont waste anything, and they are pretty solid so will be good for gnawing on and grinding their teeth down.

Skipper and Penny-Ellen love, love, love frozen peas. They eat out the insides in the morning, then have the skins for an afternoon snack. They're also quite fond of brown rice.

My rats LOVE mealworms as a nice, healthy treat - good for protein too, which my hairless needs a lot more than furred rats. I sometimes give them peanuts still in their case (they love to break the shell open) but I recently stopped as I'm not sure if they're allergic to them or not. Berries are good for them, as are curly kale (v popular with my furry rat), cooked brussels and Oatabix with milk (this I put their antibiotics in if they ever need them). The above are good treat suggestions but of course keep feeding your rats a rat mix from any pet store

They can't eat raw brussel sprouts and raw sweet potato. Be careful with green potato skin and 'eyes'. I always cook potato and mash it for them
